We put together a photoshoot that involved heading to a charity shop in order to find an object that was under £6 to capture in the studio. It took us some looking around but we eventually found a bag of marbles, which we thought would be interesting to capture. There were so many different looking marbles, which helped to create a range of different setups.

The main concept we wanted to capture in this shoot was the idea around subverting gender stereotypes through the portrayal of still life objects, as we thought marbles hold historically masculine connotations-particularly due to propaganda during the war. To subvert this, we wanted to use a rich looking baby pink satin material for the backdrop as a stereotypically feminine contrast to the marbles. Furthermore, we mainly focused on using the pearl like, and incandescent marbles as we felt this highlighted the more feminine qualities of the objects themselves.
